Backgrounder

Wildland fire suppression is one of the most dangerous industrial activities known to humans.  This is primarily due to the fact that wildland fires can be extremely unpredictable.  (See Points one to four in “Basic Fire Behaviour”)

Fire Shelters - For a period of ten years to 2005, B.C. Forest Service fireline personnel were required to carry and be trained in the proper deployment method of fire shelters.

WELCOME TO THE ONLINE S-185 FIRE ENTRAPMENT AVOIDANCE AND SAFETY COURSE

Prior to registering and paying for this comprehensive web based safety course we STRONGLY  RECOMMEND you contact your boss and ensure this course will be accepted by the Regional Fire Centre you normally work in.  (your boss can contact their “Standing Offer” contract manager)

This course covers ALL the material in the S-185 Course AND MORE.  AND

THE EXAM PROCEDURE IS THE SAME AS THAT NOW USED BY MANY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD IN REGARDS TO THEIR WEB BASED COURSES.

CHEATING IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DO BECAUSE OF SEVERAL SAFEGUARDS BUILD IN.  AS AN EXAMPLE,

  • NO TWO TESTS WILL EVER BE THE SAME
  • ALL QUESTIONS ARE RANDOMLY CHOSEN FROM WITHIN A LARGE BANK OF QUESTIONS
  • THE CORRECT ANSWERS TO THE MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS ARE ALSO RANDOMIZED.
